Installation Position
Mounted on the top surface of the engine cylinder block, sealed by cylinder head gasket; located above engine cylinders, between cylinder block and valve cover.
Main Functions
- Form the upper boundary of combustion chambers together with pistons and cylinder liners, enclose the combustion space for fuel combustion.
- Install intake valves, exhaust valves, fuel injectors, glow plugs and related valve components.
- Distribute intake air into cylinders and discharge exhaust gas out of cylinders via internal intake & exhaust ports.
- Arrange coolant passages to conduct heat exchange and cool the combustion chamber area.
- Provide internal oil galleries to deliver lubricating oil for valve mechanism lubrication.
- Bear the mounting load of valve cover, air manifold, exhaust manifold and other peripheral engine parts.
