Installation Position
Mounted on the top of the engine cylinder block, sealed by cylinder head gasket. It forms the upper part of combustion chambers, and holds intake valves, exhaust valves, valve springs, rocker assembly, fuel injector seats and coolant galleries.
Function
- Form the top boundary of combustion chambers together with piston and cylinder liner.
- Accommodate intake & exhaust valves, valve train parts and fuel injectors.
- Distribute cooling water through internal water passages to dissipate combustion heat and prevent overheating.
- Deliver intake air and discharge exhaust gas via internal intake and exhaust ports.
- Bear high gas pressure during engine power stroke and maintain sealing of combustion chamber.
