- Thermal Performance: Anti-ablation, low thermal expansion, adapted to high-load continuous operation
2. Installation Position
This piston kit is installed inside each cylinder of the Cummins QSC8.3 engine cylinder block:
- Assemble piston rings, piston pin and circlips onto the piston first to form a full piston assembly;
- Connect the piston assembly to the engine connecting rod via the piston pin;
- Insert the whole piston & connecting rod assembly into the cylinder liner from the bottom of the cylinder block;
- Fix the connecting rod onto the engine crankshaft with connecting rod bearings and rod bolts;
- The top surface of the piston faces the combustion chamber under the cylinder head, matching fuel injectors and intake/exhaust valves.
3. Core Functions
- Combustion Power Transmission Seal the cylinder combustion chamber. When fuel ignites and expands, high-pressure gas pushes the piston downward, transferring power to the crankshaft through the connecting rod to output mechanical power for equipment driving.
- Gas Sealing
- Top & second compression rings: Block high-temperature high-pressure combustion gas to prevent gas leakage into the crankcase, guarantee combustion efficiency and engine power output;
- Oil control ring: Scrape excess lubricating oil off the cylinder liner inner wall, stop engine oil from entering the combustion chamber to avoid oil burning, blue smoke and carbon deposit buildup.
- Heat Dissipation & Thermal Balance The aluminum piston conducts massive heat generated during combustion to cylinder liner and engine cooling system, controlling piston operating temperature to prevent melting, cracking or seizure.
- Lubrication Control Cooperate with cylinder wall lubrication system to maintain uniform oil film, reduce friction and wear between piston and cylinder liner, extend engine service life.
- Combustion Chamber Matching The top concave design of the piston forms a standardized combustion chamber with the cylinder head, optimizing fuel atomization and mixing, lowering fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
