Installation Position
Mounted on the exhaust manifold of the Cummins ISX15/QSX15 diesel engine, between the exhaust manifold outlet and the exhaust aftertreatment system; the compressor side connects to the engine air intake system.
Function
- Uses exhaust gas energy to drive the turbine wheel, spinning the compressor wheel to pressurize intake air into engine cylinders (forced induction).
- Variable geometry turbine (VGT) adjusts turbine nozzle area dynamically to regulate boost pressure across low and high engine RPM.
- Improves engine power, torque and fuel efficiency; assists with exhaust brake function and helps control exhaust temperature for emissions aftertreatment.
